the impact of social media on democracy

Impact of Social Media on Democracy Presentation March 16: Guy Mason Community Center

The invention of the printing press rocked the status quo of its time by irrevocably changing the creation and dissemination of information. We are going through an equally significant transition with the advent of social media in our society.

As with any tool, social media can be used to build or to destroy. We discovered in 2016 that social media was weaponized against the United States. The attacks on America through social media have continued and will continue. What can we do about it? In this presentation we will cover the big picture of how this was done as well as specific actions an individual can take to counter these efforts.

(This presentation is designed to be understandable to people who do not use social media as well as those who do.)
